The institution was founded as Jessore Model School and was converted to Jessore Zilla School in 1872. The school began with 132 students in a bungalow owned by a local queen. The zamindar of Naldi Pargana in 1845 donated Tk 300 per year for the continuation of the school which was given by his wife.
