Fatima Hospital Jessore (Bengali: ফাতেমা হাসপাতাল যশোর)  is a community health service located in Jessore, Khulna Division, Bangladesh on Gorib Shah Road. Established with the dedication of providing healthcare services to people, the hospital plays a prior part in the wellness of patients in Jessore and surrounding regions.

History of Fatima Hospital Jessore

In 1968, Brother Leo Stocco arrived in Jessore. He had been expelled from China due to World War II, as Italians were considered enemies there. However, his arrival turned out to be a blessing for us.

With the help of the then Bishop of Khulna, His Excellency Dante Battaglini S.X., Brother Leo Stocco started the activities of this hospital in 1957-1958. At first, he used the veranda of a church built by Father Marietti as a place to treat patients. This small medical service became known as a dispensary. Both Father Marietti and Brother Leo worked hard to provide medical treatment and distribute medicine.

Brother Leo chose Jessore as the place of work for several reasons:

• Jessore was home to the first Catholic diocese, making it an important religious center.
• It was an old and historically significant city with good transportation facilities.
• Father Marietti had started his missionary work in Jessore.

During the 1971 Liberation War, the hospital played a crucial role in serving the people. They secretly treated many injured freedom fighters, avoiding the attention of the Pakistani army. Brother Remo Bukhari also joined the mission and served the people of Bangladesh with love and dedication until 2014. He played a key role in modernizing the hospital.

Today, Fatima Hospital continues to serve 200-300 patients daily in Jessore. It has grown into a modern hospital with advanced medical equipment and offers surgeries at a low cost. Over the years, it has provided medical care to millions of people while spreading the love of Christ among them.
